The entire assembly then decided to celebrate for seven more days; so they joyfully celebrated for seven more days.
On the first day of the first month they began consecrating; by the eighth day of the month they reached the porch of the LORD’s temple. For eight more days they consecrated the LORD’s temple. On the sixteenth day of the first month they were finished.
This took place to fulfill the LORD’s message spoken through Jeremiah and lasted until the land experienced its sabbatical years. All the time of its desolation the land rested in order to fulfill the seventy years.
On the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had dedicated the altar for seven days and celebrated the festival for seven more days.
